AUDIO | How LGBT is viewed in Romania

Engage

In Romania, it is difficult to be a person with another sexual orientation. Statistics show that our country is among the most discriminating countries on the basis of sexual orientation. Even though Romanian Legislation and European Convention on Humans Rights prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, this does not prevent some Romanians for treating LGBT people on morality, physically or mentally detrimental way. Many of the LGBT people are afraid to assume their identity, not to be marginalized in social communities or in the work environment. Or simply for fear of parents.
