Smiles Factory builds a playground

“Smiles Factory” has made its official opening at University Central Library from Cluj Napoca. “Smiles Factory”, an external project of Psychologists Students Association from Romania, wants to help orphans and hospitalized children. Their main objective is to build an annex room to a hospital where children can play. The hospital is not yet known as they are in negotiations.

“We are just in the beginning phase of the project. We try to achieve external support”, Delia Suceveanu, the project coordinator, stated.

The project was initialized in 2010 and around 40 volunteers from different faculties are involved in it. The purpose of Smiles Factory is “an emotional, cognitive and motor development of hospitalized children and not only. Volunteers also have the opportunity to achieve a personal and professional development”, Delia Suceveanu said.

“I got involved in this project because I want to do something useful for my soul, not only for the body and the intellect”, a volunteer stated. Another one said that “I went at their first meeting and I liked it. I want to be a doctor and in this way I can help children from now on.”

Until now, approximately 600 children from Pediatrics 2 received help. They can participate in different activities that involve face painting, free hugs, games and puzzles.

The main founders of the project are Dragoş Boţcău (PR Coordinator ASPR), Alina Rusu (Associate Professor Doctor), Roxana Cordoş( ASPR Director) and Delia Suceveanu (Project Coordinator).
